Francesco Fortuna, aka Sisko Electrofanatik is one of the leaders of the Techno’s European Underground Scene. In occasion of his latest samplepack’s release, we asked him a few questions about his background, his career, his sound, his musical ideas and influences.

Hi Francesco and thanks for hosting this interview with us. First of all, can you describe a little your background as a DJ and producer?
Yes, my Dj/Producer career started in Rome (my hometown). Since I was very young, I was attracted by the various facets of house and electronic music. This passion allowed me to express my ideas and musical selections. I started playing in some clubs of the Italian capital. Then, thanks to my productions I could travel all over the Europe and in some other places in the world. My DJ sets are always surrounded by electronic sounds, hence my nickname “Electrofanatik”.
I released and collaborated with labels such as: Yoshitoshi, Bush, Armada, Suara, Intec, JAM, Phobiq, Analytictrail, We Are The Brave and more. My tracks have been played by Carl Cox, Adam Beyer, Richie Hawtin, Chris Liebing, Amelie Lens, Alan Fitzpatrick, Sam Paganini and many more in the industry.
On September 2013 I founded my own label: Gain Records.

What first got you into music?
The creativity got me into music. I am also a designer so visual arts inspired the way I see and create electronic music.

Who inspired you to make music?
I was inspired by different artists and different music styles in my life. I started from Dr.Dre and 2pac’s rhythms flow, to Michael Jackson’s beats, from Robert Miles melodies to Giorgio Moroder hits.. from my Italian “heroes” dj-producers like D.Lewis, Joy Kitikonti, Maurizio Gubellini, Alex Neri.. to international masters like Trentemoller, Eric Prydz, Steve Angello, John Dalhback, Oliver Huntemann.

How would you describe the music that you create?
I describe it as “Dream Techno” because who listen to it can feel the power and take a “trip” with the melodic drops.

All sounds in your pack are beautiful designed can you tell us what hardware/software do you use to craft your sounds? And what is your creative process like?
I use the Virus Ti snow, TD-3 (or Abl 3) u-he: Hive 2, Repro-1, zebra, Diva - Synapse: Dune 3, Legend and, obviously, even the Arturia’s! My process generally starts from an inspiration-track , or I make new chain of kicks + synths and I modulate the sounds following the flow..

What is one message you would give to your fans?
“Music is life and Techno never dies!”

How do you feel the Internet has impacted the music business?
I think the internet is a good resource, you can spread your music everywhere in a faster and easier way than in the past, you can find good tutorials for beginners, intermediate and pros. On the cons we have lost the concept of exclusivity, the research of a unique sound, besides anyone now can be a DJ or a producer, with no professional education.

If you could change anything about the industry, what would it be?
Well, maybe I would like to see everything how it was at the beginning.. I mean, I would like to see everyone in this industry work for is real profession: a promoter, just as a promoter, a PR only as a PR , the DJ just as a real Deeeeejaaaay! Today everything is based on being an All-in One package. You have to be your own manager, PR, promoter, label owner, social media expert and so on.. This is the current modern music industry, if you are an interesting all-in-one “product” (maybe) a Booking Agency or a real Manager could be interested in working with you.

What is the best advice you’ve been given?
I’ve always been told to be humble and never give up!
